What is Whole30?
Whole30 is a 30 day nutritional reset and elimination, to help heal your gut, calm inflammation, restore a healthy metabolism and hopefully change your cravings, habits & relationships with food. For 30 days, the idea is to eat foods that make you more healthy and eliminate the ones that don’t. General guidelines go as follows: NO ADDED SUGAR, ALCOHOL, GRAINS, LEGUMES OR DAIRY and NO ADDITIVES like MSG, SULFITES & CARRAGEENAN – we’ll get more into this in another post.
Why am I doing this?
I’m doing this to RESTART my system, HEAL my gut and remind myself how much better I feel when I eliminate the foods that cause inflammation in my body and other digestive issues.
After being put on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) by my dietitian I felt the best I ever felt. No nausea, no bloating, no eczema. The issue was I have the hardest time sticking to it. These past couple of months I’ve been eating all these food that I know harm my body and making excuses for it. Now that it is the a new year, I am done making myself sick and ready to feel more energized, clear-headed and overall healthier.
PS: I personally I’m not doing this to lose weight. However, we all have our own reasons for wanting to get healthy and clean out our bodies. I would suggest writing down the reasons you want to join the challenge and keep it to refer back to throughout the challenge. Your reasons may change, or may stay the same. Either way, you know that you are doing this to BETTER YOURSELF!
